On the 13th July 2000 the House of Representatives
approved a Parliamentary Resolution for the allocation of a tract of
land at Ghajn Tuffieha, measuring circa 15.62 acres (56.26 tumuli), to
The Scout Association of Malta. This land will serve for the
establishment of an International Scout Centre and an accompanying
campsite.
The public Contract for the allocation of the land
at Ghajn Tuffieha for the establishment of the International Scout
Centre and Campsite was signed on Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at Island
Headquarters, Floriana. Present for the ceremony, besides The
Chief Scout, the Deputy Chief Executive, members of the Scout Council,
of the Executive Committee and of the Ghajn Tuffieha Project Team,
Directors and Commissioners was the Hon Jesmond Mugliette, Parliamentary
Secretary in the Ministry for Education.
The Contract was signed by Mr Francis Flynn, Mr
Kenneth De Martino and Mr Mark Pizzuto as Trustees on behalf of the
Association and by Mr Albert Mamo as Commissioner of Land on behalf of
Government. The Contract was read out by Notary Vincent Miceli, Chief
Notary to Government.
