The granting of Awards to members of the Association is
regulated by the Constitution of the Association that provides, at Bye-Law VIII
(Scout Awards) for the setting up an Awards Sub-committee and sets out the rules and regulations in accordance
with which such Awards may be granted.
The Constitution provides for the granting of the following Awards to uniformed members of the Association :
- Awards for Gallantry :
- Awards for Gallantry may be granted to individual members, Groups or
Sections of the Association who
- (i) in an emergency show presence of mind and with little or no
regard for personal safety, act with vigour and determination to go to the
assistance of others to save life, or to alleviate the sufferings of
others in such emergencies, or who
- (ii) in normal times perform an act, or a series of acts, of
exceptionally meritorious service to the community, or to another person
or persons in need of help.

- One of the following Awards may be granted according to the circumstances
of the case :
- The Silver Cross - granted only for special heroism or action
in the face of extraordinary risk.
- The Gilt Cross - granted for special heroism in the face of
considerable risk.
- The Chief Scout's Commendation for Gallantry - granted in
circumstances involving moderate risk which does not justify the award of
a Cross or Bar.
- Bars to the above mentioned awards may be granted for additional acts of gallantry.

- Award for Meritorious Conduct
- The Medal for Meritorious Conduct - granted to members of the Association
who may not have been involved in risk of life, but who, through their exemplary
conduct, have displayed Courage, Endurance, Initiative or Devotion to duty, so as
to better the ideal and image of the Scout Movement.

- Awards for Good Service to the Association
- Awards for specially good service to the Scout Movement, according to the circumstances
of the case may be granted to adult members of the Association :

- The Silver Dolphin - the highest Award of the Association may
be granted to adult members who have given over 25 years
of exceptionally outstanding service to the Movement in any capacity.
- Bar to the Silver Acorn - to holders of the Silver Acorn who
have given an additional 5 years, at least, of further specially
distinguished service.
- The Silver Acorn - granted to adult Warranted members of the
Association who have given over 15 years of specially distinguished
service.
- Bar to the Medal of Merit - to holders of the Medal of Merit,
who have given an additional 5 years, at least, of further specially
good service.
- The Medal of Merit - granted to adult members of the
Association who have given at least 10 years of specially good service
as an appointed Scouter.
- The Chief Scout's Commendation for Good Service - granted to
adult members of the Association who have given at least 5 years of
good service to the Movement.

- Awards for Service in Scouting
- Awards for Service in Scouting are aimed at recognising service rendered by adults
in the
Movement. These Awards are separate and not related to the previously
mentioned Awards for Good Service to the Association and may be applied for, on a personal basis, by any Scouter.
- The Service Decoration - granted to adult members of the
Association who have given 10 continuous years of faithful and
satisfactory service from the date of their first
appointment.
- The Long Service Decoration - granted to adult members of the
Association who have given 15 years accumulated years of faithful and
satisfactory service from the date of their first appointment.
- The Bar to the Long Service Decoration - bars at 5 year
intervals (20 - 25 - 30 - 35 - 40 - 45) may be granted to holders of
the Long Service Decoration for further accumulated faithful and
satisfactory service.
The Constitution of the Scout Association of Malta also provides for the granting of
two Decorations to non-uniformed members of the Association. These are :
- The Association Award
- This decoration is the highest award granted to non-uniformed
persons in recognition of their work, services, personal involvement
and dedication in an exceptional character in furthering the aims of
Scouting on a National level.

- The Thanks Badge
- Awarded to non-uniformed persons in recognition of their work and
personal involvement in furthering the aims of Scouting. The Thanks
Badge may also be awarded on a Group or Section level as recommended
by the respective Group Scout Leader in consultation with the District
Commissioner.
