In the foreword to the Malta Environment Scout Award
regulations booklet (February 1993), the then Chief Commissioner
Mr Joseph G. Grech wrote :
"One of the great challenges facing us today is the preservation
of our environment, both locally and globally.
The Scout Movement has been one of the pioneer movements in favour of the
environment and the Malta Environment Scout Award provides all of us with a
great chance of helping in the reservation of our environment for the benefit of
the whole community.
As members of the Scout Movement, I encourage you to try your best to gain
the Award and to be proud wearers of the badge so as to show, to one and all,
that you do care about the environment and that you are doing something about
it.
By doing this, you will be doing your duty towards your country which after
all, is what you have promised to do when you made your Scout Promise.
I wish you many happy hours while working to gain the respective
Awards."
