- EVENTS DURING 2007
- February 22, 2007
- On the 22nd February 1857, our Founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell (then
known as Robert Stephenson Smyth Powell) was born in London, England. Thus
in 2007 we will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of his birth. It is
opportune to note that his wife, Olave Baden-Powell was also born on the
22nd February.
-
- August 1, 2007
- At 8 o'clock in the morning of 1st August 1907, Scouting was founded at
Brownsea Island. At that moment, our Founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell blew
on the kudu horn to open the experimental camp for boys from a wide range
of social backgrounds in the United Kingdom. The 1st of August 2007 will
be celebrated as a special day around the world when we will all 'join
hands', together with our brother Scouts from the United Kingdom who would
themselves be celebrating their own 100th birthday, to pay tribute to past
achievements and to augur a better and longer future to Scouting.
-
- 21st World Scout Jamboree will open in the UK, and when a re-creation of
that first camp on Brownsea Island in England will be opened.
-
